the vancouver edition!

during this week's hunt, i came across historic antique alley, and oh.my.god do they have some amazing pieces. i stick to posting listings from furniture owners, but if you live in vancouver, or are looking for some original mid-century goodness, check out their listings here. and now to the rest of these week's finds!

if in doubt...

...make tea.
amen to that one.

all chalked up

i've always been a glutton for anthropologie's bedding, but what i'm really crazy about this year is their use of chalkboard paint & chalk to decorate a bedroom. the chalkboard headboard against the chalkboard wall kills me - i.want.it.so.bad. seriously fantastic, as always, anthro.

hello, liebermann

daniel j. liebermann designed this epically beautiful mid-century tree house in mill valley back in 1958. the radial floor plan makes the interior of the house look like the insides of an umbrella, and it was built using salvaged materials. liebermann, an apprentice of frank lloyd wright, seamlessly integrated the outdoors into the design of the house, creating a bright airy space in a lush canyon. check out more images here.

go speed, go!

more and more of our friends are having insanely cute children, which makes me lust after insanely cute things to buy them. our favorite little man, coltrane, would look fierce in this rad metal speedcar racer from design within reach. i kind of wouldn't mind one for myself!

hello, marilyn

marilyn monroe's final home in brentwood, ca is for sale, and it's about as darling as anyone could imagine. despite not being as big as most homes in the area are, it's spanish hacienda style with terra cotta floors and exposed wood beams is ultra inviting and warm. i'm particularly smitten with the tile fireplace and super bright kitchen. if you've got a cool $3.6 million laying around, check out the listing for this sweet abode here.

this week's finds come from phoenix, boise, orlando, and portland, where mid-century finds are a serious bargain. i'm thinking a summer road trip with a u-haul truck is in order!

the bees knees

i'm kind of crazy about honey bees, and i secretly can't wait till i can raise my own. so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that i love jewelry celebrating the little pollinator, and their delightful honeycomb kingdoms. these are a few of my favorites - wearable reminders to tell people of the plight of the honeybee. (1. bees knees ceramic necklace, 2. bee mine necklace, 3. vintage brass bee barrettes, 4. bamboo honeycomb earrings)

fresh palette

a new weekly addition to altruism in the morning - fresh palette. showcasing some of my favorite photographs, and a color palette to keep you inspired along the way. every tuesday, fresh for you.

camouflaged

body paint seems so 1999, but holy toledo does emma hack take it to a new level in her beautiful camouflage portraits. integrating wall paper designs, body paint, and live animals, each piece draws the viewer in to distinguish the difference between flat and 3-dimensional surfaces. and to think, these few images are just the icing on the cake. see her full portfolio of photography here.

cheers darlin

these world cup beer posters are too cute. i can't help but want to get the argentina & spain ones for devin, and the germany one for myself. get one for you and yours to cheers to here.

feeling inspired

i LOVE notebooks and this one is about to make it's way to the top of the list. how rad is the inspiration pad? designed by marc thomasset, this notebook is a dream for idle meetings, boring class lectures, and commutes on the train. order yours here.

some more beautiful finds for all of you. have a city you want me to check out or an item you want people to know is out in the wild? drop me a line in the comments and i'll include it in the next round! happy hunting...

feeling marxist

i'm totally smitten with this "funny face" ring and can't get over how awesome it would be to look down at my hand and think of groucho marx every time. created by bay area harbinger co, this sterling silver ring is a sure fire way to keep everyone smiling. a little pricey at $68, but kind of worth it for its epic awesomeness, right? order yours now.

hung out to dry

i love succulents, and have them all over the house and patio. i admittedly don't have much of a green thumb, and they seem to be the only plant that tolerates my poor gardening ways. devin sent me these planters from wallter, and i immediately envisioned all my little succulents, high off the ground, proudly displayed in their "nothing can kill me, not even THAT woman" glory.

made out of powder coated spun aluminum, your plants can be hung, attached to a wall, or stand on a post, in a cute white, orange, mustard or teal bowl. get yours today here.

welcome to the end. of the page that is.

say hello.
